DID THE MAYAN’S PREDICT WORMHOLES? (SciFi)

August 21, 2007 on 12:37 pm | In Science Fiction Art | No Comments

“The Mayan calendar comes to an end on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Only a few people will survive the catastrophe that ensues.”

Wormhole Storm 08212007

NO! I don’t believe in such predictions… LOL Yet in the world of imagination & art, concepts like the Mayan’s prediction and “Wormhole weapons” (SciFi Channel’s FARSCAPE) , combined with a little reality (NASA, Hubble, Space Shuttle) makes for the inspiration that brought about the weaving of this Science Fiction illusion. A Wormhole Storm is a Science Fiction (heavy on the fiction) concept of mine partially inspired by the SciFi Channel’s TV show “FARSCAPE.” The concept of a “Wormhole Weapon” intrigued me and already having developed my ruptured wormholes I soon envisioned them turning into massive storms, spawning off multiple shifting wormhole passages raging in space and tearing apart all within their grasp, scattering the matter throughout the regions the passages exits.

An Abstraction of Symmetry & Seclusion

August 17, 2007 on 12:39 am | In Abstract Art | No Comments

An Abstraction of Symmetry & Seclusion

It is a good thing that a person cannot alter space & time with a mere thought. For were it possible, I would take the universe about me, twisting & folding it into an endless shifting maze to confuse those who would wish to seek me out to take advantage of my weakness. I would form a great fan to continuously stir this maze and spit out any undesired who penetrate it, casting them back out into the empty blackness they seek to bring to me.

Seldom do I design and show an art piece that is done from such emotions, that is why so much of my artwork is of simpler themes, but I really like this one! This Abstract will be sold only as an original hand signed (48″ x 30″ Canvas Gallery Wrap Print), no limited or open edition prints will be sold.

And yes, I consider String theory (theoretical physics a simpler theme! Compared to the battles I have to fight in my head to try to be a decent honest person and not leave victims in my path, trying to comprehend such theories is more escape to me than even Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis (my two favorite shows till I could no longer afford cable/satellite. Missed the last few seasons and heard SG-1 ended). This is why I create, the reason I weave strange lovely illusions, to show that there is soul to art created on a computer, for it is nothing more than a modern tool just like a camera, airbrush, various paintbrushes, pencils, markers even charcoal is a tool, used to create a means of expression in the form of a decoration to bring life to his/her own or another’s wall. I do not run batches as the Apophysis freeware I use was designed, the designer’s also took in mind artists like me that would prefer to do the trig and manually weave our illusions. That is where my handle Teknowizard comes from; I am a Weaver of Light & Illusion. AND I INTEND TO BE ONE OF THE MIRACLES THAT DEFIES ALL THE ODDS AGAINST ME AND FINDS A WAY TO OVERCOME MY DISABILITIES AND SUPPORT MYSELF AGAIN SOMEDAY!

This beautiful fine art canvas original will come in a classic Arqadia Traditional Walnut frame which has a gently scooped inner panel with a wide rounded outer edge. The clear walnut finish allows the subtle pattern of the grain to show through. Finished size: 52.8″ x 34.8″

Abstraction w frame

I have not yet decided on a price for this piece - if you would like to make an offer I will give it consideration.

So as to explain the title, the definitions I feel apply to this creation / illusion I have woven.

Abstraction:
1. an abstract or general idea or term.
2. the act of considering something as a general quality or characteristic, apart from concrete realities, specific objects, or actual instances.
3. an impractical idea; something visionary and unrealistic.
4. the act of taking away or separating; withdrawal: The sensation of cold is due to the abstraction of heat from our bodies.
5. secret removal, esp. theft.
6. absent-mindedness; inattention; mental absorption.
7. Fine Arts.
a. the abstract qualities or characteristics of a work of art.
b. a work of art, esp. a nonrepresentational one, stressing formal relationships. (from Dictionary.com)

Symmetry: beauty based on or characterized by such excellence of proportion. (from Dictionary.com)

Seclusion: the state of being secluded; retirement; solitude: He sought seclusion in his study. (from Dictionary.com)

Out of Frustration Comes Beauty

August 16, 2007 on 11:21 am | In Loose Strings | No Comments

Reflections of the Storm

Yesterday was a very frustrating day with two of my designs failing to render (one of the problems that comes with having to use freeware software). I debated last night whether to even try to render this piece, which was to be the third in a three matching piece set. I loved the colors so much I decided to take the chance, hoping that it would not fail and waste another 10 hours of rendering time on top of the 13 hours I had lost on the other two failed renders).

It is one of many frustrations for me as I work hard to build something of a life for myself again. With only one computer I have to balance rendering with working on promoting myself and my art & getting new artworks done. My poor computer runs 24/7/365!

There are other things that make it very difficult for me no matter how hard I work! Despite my mental disabilities I am held to the same standard as anyone else. An example is my bank, Guaranty Bank, who fines/penalize me because my account got 67 cents overdrawn and yet when they screw up I am expected to just forgive them no matter how much their mistake may have cost me. Why am I punished for my mistake and they do not hold themselves accountable for their mistakes???

The worst overall is the Internet service I use (a gift from a friend because I cannot afford it). Clearwire advertises it as broadband but because I actually seek to use the paid for bandwidth uploading my art, they throttle down the bandwidth so that essentially, 3/4 of the day it performs at speeds equivalent of a 28.8 modem! In the year I have used their service their CHEATING has cost me 75% of my ability to get the prints uploaded. I literally am behind on Hundreds of artworks and don’t even dare try to upload the nicest ones because the files are so large that Clearwire throttles it down to ZERO, breaking the connection during the upload to my printers server. So often I can’t even offer my nicest ones.

Things like this cause me setback after setback and cost me money that I desperately need for other things, like safety handles so I can shower regularly. Other things like the City of Merced, CA promising me time & again that they would clean up the glass out here in the alley and then never keeping their word! I have not been able to take a single walk in almost a year now because I keep getting glass in my feet and I have almost no feeling in my legs so I don’t know till I see fresh blood on my floor or sheets. If it ever got a major artery, I could literally bleed to death and not know it in time to even call for help.

I am so tired of how our societies really work as compared to how they each represent themselves. For me, life is a living hell and things like these added to the problems my disabilities cause me, just keep robbing me of what little bit I have been able to accomplish. Does not a disabled person like me deserve “Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness” too?

Do Wormholes Really Exist?

August 15, 2007 on 12:00 pm | In Science Fiction Art | No Comments

Wormhole 08152007

This morning I was asked if I thought wormholes were possible and I thought that an interesting question, considering that wormholes are pure theory. I answered him Yes & No. As I understand the theory, wormholes would require both a black hole and a white hole, theoretically the path between would form a passage between. Now there is some scientific evidence of black holes but a white hole, according to the Laws of Physics as we currently understand them, is theoretically impossible.

But I also take into my paths of thought the ideas of Theorists like Lisa Randall, in that there are perhaps other planes of existence or dimensions in which physics might/could have different laws where phenomena like wormholes & white holes perhaps could exist.

In reading blogs, forums & webpages on subjects like string theory; it can get pretty confusing sorting through theories that might be possible and one that are just crazy. Recently I read someone claiming to be conducting experiments in using moss or mold and the spores somehow forming wormholes in their swimming pool (I would say refraction & shadows forming the dark spots appearing in their photos).

Spacial Rift -08132007

August 13, 2007 on 12:40 pm | In Science Fiction Art | No Comments

Hypothetically speaking, a spacial rift is a tear in the fabric of space & time. In my art I seek to create the illusion of materials such as dusts & gasses leaking into our universe. You see, for some reason my mind works in patterns and so my illusions tend to take on a surreal abstract nature, though at times I I paint more normal type objects in. Stars, galaxies, nebulas and such add to the illusion. I try to be original & creative and I love to play with color as can be seen in this newest addition to my Spacial Rift series.

Spacial Rift -08132007

Original Description for this artwork: Lit by the light of a Giant Blue Star, the dust & gasses leaking through this double rift in space reveal the gentle folds & wrinkles in Spacetime in the surrounding region. This is an open edition art print - the original 48″ x 36″ piece and Limited edition signed canvas prints are available (contact me).

NASA Hubble Telescope art

August 11, 2007 on 4:19 pm | In Space Art | No Comments

Now, I want to start out fair & honest with everyone, even though it may not profit me to do so.

1 – These are artistic manipulations based on NASA/Hubble images – the originals are free to download and have a print made, I simply offer artistically enhanced versions for 10% over the printing cost, with the permission of the NASA Copyright office. I offer them at that price so I can start to earn at least a little money as I work to become known a little for my normal art. Plus it saves you the time of downloading large files and then uploading somewhere to have the print made. I will also be enlarging some of the images at NASA that are too small for print, like the Jupiter artwork shown here.

2 – I am not in any way, shape or form connected to NASA or any other government or scientific organization. I am simply a disabled person working hard to rebuild a shattered life.

The Hubble telescope images are a good deal of the inspiration of my normal digital artworks. I am somewhat limited on what I have to work with, yet I passionately weave light into colorful illusions. Working with the NASA images is fun and I like to shift styles around during my days to keep me from getting art block. Each and every day my depression allows me to function I work hard to be as productive as I can. Much of the time it is nowhere near as much as I wanted to so please be patient, I will try to post a new one every few days. I have lots of other art if you’d care to just browse about, perhaps you’ll find one or two you’d love on your wall and help me earn a buck or two.

My NASA / Hubble Art page - Prints are available in several sizes & on a variety of fine art papers or as canvas prints, with custom framing available as well.
